Fine. Call it a center support bearing.

Either way. I have to do mine coming up and wasn't sure where to ask. Would it be helpful to write up a tech article on it? I didn't find one at all. Can add pictures and even video.. might be helpful for those less-confident with using a cut-off wheel on the bearing itself.:icon_twisted:

Most people ditch the b**** and put in a one piece shaft from 98+ ex cab. Not saying you can't or shouldn't continue down the path you're on, just another option to consider.

My junkyard selection here is crap. The only suitable donors got the shafts whanged up pretty good. I haven't had anyone come up with one for quite a while and I got the carrier for $20.
It's gone on long enough! I still have to rebuild the rear differential though, that I'll definitely do a write up for..

The carrier / center support bearing is definitely not one of those things that needs a write-up. Seriously... :icon_rofl:

If you have to explain to someone that you used a 12mm 12point to remove the 4 axle flange bolts, used ~14mm with extension to remove the 2 carrier bearing bolts, pull out the driveshaft from the slip yoke, use the 8/10mm to remove the ujoint caps, use ~21mm to remove nut, bang off ujoint flange, and replace carrier bearing, well...

Ok, I was gonna say it was as easy as 1-2-3...but after typing, I guess there are more steps that I forgot about. :icon_confused:

OK, fine. Do a write-up. :icon_cheers:
