Carburetor

Too bad they don't make headers anymore for the 2.8. Those manifolds and downpipes are pretty dinky compared to a 2.9 factory setup. Can't get the air/fuel to go in if you can't get it out also.
I see a set or two a week on the cologne fb groups.

Lol, theyre all overseas.

Shipping isn't terrible, and most speak English.

Holley makes a 500 CFM 2bbl that is a direct replacement for the 2150...

Still way to much carb for a 2.8.
I know, my friend used to race a 302 Granada on the oval tracks and his class required stock unported heads and a stock 2 barrel carb. He used 351w marine heads and a 500 cfm 2150 off a 429. They had Ford part numbers so the tech guys were happy. A 351m from a 70's truck had about a 350 cfm carb. The cfm recommendations in the carb catalogs don't jive with my experience. I built a 302 with an RV style cam, stock fox headers with the dents removed, and an 85 Mustang GT intake manifold for a Cougar sedan I had. The chart said I needed about 450 cfm, the new Holley about that size is big bucks so I bought and rebuilt a used 390 cfm. It ran good- I thought- until I swapped the 600 off my Mustang. 390 is a lot closer to 450 than 600 is but the engine liked the 600 a lot better.

You gotta remember though....in stock form the 351M/W 400, whatever from the 2150 era wasnt really setup to build power up in the higher RPM ranges where you would need massive amounts of flow.

My 77 LTD II with a 351W makes peak torque at like 1600rpm...i think my 400 is 1800rpm. Hell even the 302 in those days IIRC was 2000 or so....

Yuuuuup. That, and using a VPN with a UK or German IP address and searching google/eBay, etc.
No clue what a VPN is lol

If your gonna convert fuel delivery, I would go EFI.
If you want more power via part conversion, consider swapping to a bigger cam.
Also consider re-gearing, that will give you more acceleration at the cost of less top speed.
