I am mulling over an engine swap on my 1986 ranger 4x4 (current 2.3 stick) .Well I put some wheels on my Ranger today and now I LOVE it again! So rather than go over to the DARK (YJ,TJ) side I am thinking of a V8 swap,nothing crazy ,just a carbed roller motor with a T-5 .I have put together a nice 347 and T-5 that went into a 88 fox,so I know that part ,what I have concerns with is the transfer case and trans. I am looking for the least swap trouble-not the cheapest but the easiest way-Like I know that d35/8.8 is needed but is there a way to use an off the shelf driveline as towing to a driveline shop is a deal killer. I work in a big shop and while these projects are frowned upon they are allowed -BUT they need to be done in a few days-BTW I am NOT a tech and I depend on the kindness of others to have this kind of stuff done
