i'm putting v8 mustang 5.0 in 1999 coil spring ranger. I have some friends who want me to put in 500cfm two barrel carb instead of 4 barrol edelbrock 600. whats you guys apinion? THANKS!:icon_confused:

I would take a little of each, a 500cfm 4bbl for a stock engine.

I had to lean down mine (Edelbrock 1403), I think a 600 is overkill.

A 500CFM 2bbl is going to be a gas sucking pig.

The Holley 500 is a great carb, one of Holley's best. You can replace the 50 cc accellerator pump to fix the fuel mileage. A 500 2 bbl is exactly half a 750 cfm 4 bbl. It's a little on the big side for a 302, but it does work well on em. I've used two of em on two different 302's in the past 35 years. Also used em on two 390's and a 400M. Probably Holley's most reliable carb. I would choose one over an Edelbrock carb anytime (just as I would a Holley 4 bbl) If you're on a budget, you cannot beat it for the "bang for the buck" value.
