So this is what happened...
I went through a puddle with the BII, a was in 4 low and 2nd gear so i wasn't going fast. I soon as a got to the middle of the puddle, the engine cut out and i wasn't able to restart it. I tried jumping it and sounded like it was cranking but I never checked to see if any of the pulleys moved.
We thought it might be the starter so we dragged it behind a cherokee but it was stuck in 4 low and it didn't work. The clutch smelled really bad. I towed it back to the campsite in neutral and took apart the starter and it seemed to be alright and dry, I connected it to the battery and the little gear spun so I'm pretty sure it was alright.
Then I realized it was probably hydrolocked.
I pulled the spark plugs and tried to start it to push the water out but the motor wouldn't crank.
the spark plugs were soaked.
We tried rolling it down the hill and putting it in 5th to see if the motor would even turn, it didn't
I tried to tow it behind my buddies jeep but the lack of breaking power and the lack of rope length made it too sketchy.
Also, one of his tires had a small leak so we decided to leave the bII ont he side of the road and come back for it with a uhaul trailer.
When I got it home I changed the oil (which had a couple seconds of pure water when i drained it), took off the intake, and the distributor cap to dry it out.
I found that the fuse that goes from the alternator to the starter was broken so I got a new one and I still cant get the motor to crank.
My question is: Could I have worn the clutch(trying to jump start in 4low) so much that when I try to start it, it won't sense the clutch is pushed in?
(the clutch was on it's way out before all this)
And,
Is there anything else you guys think I should try?
Thanks guys,
