Can't make sense of stereo wiring. W/ pics

It has 4 plugs because they wanted to make it a little universal and fit in a lot of different vehicles. You should only need to use the white plug.
You don't need the gray one. If you only have one connector coming out of your dash, you simply plug the corresponding connector on the adaptor to it, and you're done. You can cut off the unused connectors if you want.

Ok I beleie I don't require the grey one at all and I just have the one plug coming out hte back out my stereo + antenna. I'm beleiving it is the white one. Making progress.

Woot I was right.

Yep yep. By the way this is what I was trying to say:

"Ok I beleive I don't require the grey one at all and I just have the one plug coming out the back of my stereo (very corner) + the antenna. I think it is the white one. Making progress."

I really need to check my spelling. Man the original quote was terribly written.

Will do. Should have the harness done this weekend so I will take lots of pics when I install it. I am also swapping out the arm rest on the work Ranger. I may have leaned a little to hard on it:D.

One more weird dilemna. Sometime when the stock radio quits if I pull out the parking brake it release it will turn back on. Or sometime hit the top off my dash. Is there a bad ground causing all this or what? My new stereo will be grounded right to the firewall so that will help I hope. I also bought a new parking park switch in case there is a parking brake lead or something.

We will see in a hurry. New stereo going in ASAP and going to put a new P-Brake switch.

Is the release right by the fuse box? I would be more inclined to think the problem might be an intermittent connection there, but you'll have to do more testing to isolate for sure. If you're messing with something close to a power source and it's effecting the operation of a device, that is usually a good indication that you're close to the problem.

I never even thought about that Pete. I'll have to look into it a little more next time I have it in the shop.

I'm going back to all my old threads and udpating them.

Here's my current status. I installed my JVC saturday afternoon. I grounded it to a hole in a dashboard crossbrace. I grabbed the Ford diagnostics book and started to check simple & stupid things. I checked to make sure all the Radio fuses were good and they were, exept Fuse #20 was a 5 amp instead of a 7.5 amp. Not blown but just incorrect. So far though all my issues have so far (knock on wood) gone away. I really like this JVC, I have it set to colour #26, which matches my dash lights quite nicely:D

Forgive me for taking so long to put the stereo in.
