trying to make up my mind. i want something decent thats also decently priced. should i just get a basic locker? or possibly a selectable air or electric locker. im not an extreme wheeler, but would like better performance when im offroading.

i want you guys' input on what would be best for me. also any brand preferences??

thats what i was thinking. something simple. i would love a selectable air locker. but my wallet doesnt love it

You sound the exact same as I did. I got a lockright...its easy to put in...way cheaper then selectable... and its barely noticable daily driving. Do it...you won't regret it

so youre pretty impressed with it?
and thats the main thing i was worried about, if it would handle pretty good under normal driving conditions.

If you are going to do it, take the time to save up the money and get what you would really want, not what you can afford right now. When I did my gears I didnt have the money for a locker and didnt think i really wanted one. Now that ive done my gears, i regret not getting a nice selectable locker.

Yeah I am impressed with it. It improves traction...its easy to put in, you don't have to mess with the ring and pinion. Under normal driving conditions its fine...can hardly tell I have it back there...The only thing that slightly concerns me is that it might wear your tires a bit more if you accelerate when turning, but really...tires are wear items anyways. If you coast around a corner you can hear it clicking and stuff, works just like it should. It is 6000 times better then an open diff thats for sure

well i think a lock right would be fine for me now. dont want to put too much into that 7.5 cuz i hope to swap the engines and rear end from my explorer. maybe when i get the 8.8 ill invest in an air locker.

just need the time, money, and a 4.0 manual tranny.

so the lockright will hopefully be for about 2 yrs or so...

thanks guys!
