I have the motor on the motor mounts but I cant get the tranny close enofe to the motor to either start a doule pin or start a bolt. The torque converter might not be all the way onto the inpute shaft because when it is in park i can spin the torque converter and i dont think i should be able to do that. I spun it and wiggled it as much as i can and i cant get it to go on any further.

Thank you for any and all help, Joe

Well Joe we don't have a clue what you are doing there.. But if you have had the engine out then when I do that job I install the tranny FIRST and then put the thing on the engine mounts.
You prolly need a little more movement than having it on the mounts will allow.

Well I did have the motor out and we couldnt get the tranny close enofe to the motor no matter if it was on the mounts or wasnt. I had two buddies over and we couldnt get it. Yesterday i desided to just bolt the motor in and get everything hooked in, just so i could move forward with this project. Right now the truck is as the same spot as you would be in if you took the tranny out and right now you are puting it back in. We just cant get the tranny on the motor. Like I said before I think it is something to do with the torque converter, should I put it on the fly wheel first?, or keep it on the imput shaft? Hopw many times should it click before it is all the way onto the imput shaft? These are the kids of questions im asking, sorry for the confusion with the first post I was in a hurry.

Thanks again, Joe

if you try pullin the motor and tranny together with bolts and the converter not fully engaged you will destroy the pump seal and possibly the pump as well

are you using the same engine/trans? i've made the mistake of not taking extra dowell pins out when using a replacement engine.

if you're using all the same stuff then you should remove the torque converter, spin the shafts on the transmission a little bit, and put the torque converter back on while spinning it. you should feel 2-3 clicks as everything snaps in.

you'll know its on all the way when you can push it in and out about 1/4"

well im almost postitive that the torque converter isnt all the way on because the bolts are really tight, we cant turn the motor over and the tranny is still about 3/4 of and inch away from the block. Before i put the motor in i sat in the engin compartment and spun, giggled, pushed, ect everything i could do to get the converter all the way on the imput shaft. Should it snap in or something when you have it compleatly seated? I am lost on this one.

Thanks again
