So I just bought my 1988 ford ranger 4x4 and I have big plans for her but thats beside the point when I bought it it started and idoled fine until it was given gas then would sputter and die out now I cant even get it to turn over and ive done everything possible to my knowledge to get it running ive replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, spark plugs and wires new altenator and distributor the fuel pressure is there and is strong I have compression in all cylinders I checked the fuel injectors there getting pulsations they spray fuel in a stream but I dont know if thats enough could this be my problem !? Any help or ideas would be appreciated thank you

what engine???? if it is getting gas and has spark and compression, next thing I would check is timing.... but the injectors should be a spray, not a stream...you said you replaced the plugs and wires.... did you check to see if it actually has any spark???

2.9 and I just checked the timing I forgot to mention that timing is aligned perfect

But does it have fire and compression??

Great compression and spark ........... my next step is goin to be spray some starting fluid in the intake im assuming if I get it to fire up it would be my injectors what do you guys think ??

Go easy on the quick start stuff...it can blow a flame 3 feet or longer out the TB...

If it starts with that stuff then you know you have a fuel delivery issue...could be pumps, fuel pressure regulator, or simply a plugged filter...

EDIT: or, you could have no gas in the tank...:)

Just had the same thing happen to me trying to start my new 3.0...lol

Its not a fuel problem lol ive replaced fuel pump fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter the high pressure fuel pump is working fine also and im gettin great fuel pressure at the rail Im pretty much stumped on what it could be from here
