wanted to hook up a code reader to my 87 ranger and i cant find the port for it any ides where its at?

OBD-II is what you're thinking about where you plug in the little scanner and it shows up all pretty on the screen... You use a voltmeter and hook it up to the self test connectors on OBD-I...

under the hood, somewhere around the vicinity of the fuel pump and computer relays, between the airbox and the inner fender on the passenger side, its a big red plug and a little gray one.

Dude, I Just went out and hooked up my code reader to that same plug (the red and the grey one). If I can pull codes off my truck then I think he can. All I needed was a EEC-IV connector which came with my code reader.

Code readers work for the lazy person with deep pockets. :) J/k

I use my check engine light on my '88 and '93 Tempo, but '87 does not have a functioning CEL. A test light or analog voltmeter would work fine for 86-87.

Yeah, that's like buying a backhoe to dig a hole... A shovel will do the same job, just with less class and more work... I'm a shovel guy...

Haha, there are somethings in life that are just impractical to do the hard way. How big of a hole we talking here? :icon_twisted:

Well, let's say we're digging a small hole... That way it works with my explanation, haha...
