can you trim a 2nd gen billet grille to fit a 1st gen?

I am almost positive you can, but I am hoping for fairly simple. Would it require trimming a bar or 2 and making mounting brackets, or is it too short? The center of my grille is already cut out because i have a bar grille.

The search button usually makes me look stupid, so I tried to keep it short and simple.

I want to do something close to this.

From this pic, it looks like the gen2 is a little bigger...so you'd have to trim it down maybe..

I dunno, you really need to measure it.

thats what i was thinking, i am not at easy access to my ranger at the moment, but ill deffinatly be mesuring the grille on my explorer today.

The gen 2 looks like it could be a little bit narrower, I hope not but I can deal with a little bit.

Thanks

do they make billets for aerostars?

Btw I, my dad, and everyone else i have shown pics of your truck think its the best looking bII we have seen.

hmmm, I'm not sure wich to use now, I'll have to do some measuring.
I know i could cut one for a full sized chevy, but it would probably require more.

OK so let me get this straight, you have a Billet insert for a second gen, and you want to know if you can cut it down to fit a Gen 1 grill??

Measure it up and you'll find out

Thats about it, the reason I wanted to go with a gen2 is because I could get one for about $50 and If i hack it up, thats the cheapest one I could find.

I would have liked to measured one from an aerostar but I couldn't get the measurements as easily. I am still keeping it open as an option for now.

Update...

Gen1 grille opening is 8.00 inches tall and 37.50 inches wide.
gen2 grille is 10.00 inches tall and 38.25 inches wide.

Maybe this can help someone in the future.
