I hope this the right forum to post this question- and I know this is a weird question

I just bought a 2002 Ranger 2.3 automatic which was not run since 2010 and sat outside during this time.

The truck starts up and runs ok but I noticed a water spot under the drivers side ---while it was running I went under the truck and the rusty water (not antifreeze) is coming from the starter gasket --it is not coming from above it is definitely out of bottom of the starter gasket -- and the faster in revs the faster it comes out---is it possible that water has accumulated in the automatic bellhousing from sitting that long and what would be the easiest way to drain

any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank-you

I suppose it's possible water could have pooled in the bell. There isn't really any point in trying to drain it. It can't get into anything that can be hurt by water. The inside of the bell housing is considered the outside of the trans, and the converter and pump are sealed against the elements.
