can the master cyl make clutch slip?

I replaced my m5 about 8 months ago, replaced all clutch components accept master cylinder. Now all of a sudden my clutch is slipping...I have been driving a stick for 15 years, so I am not riding the clutch or anything to make it wear faster, and I am not losing any fluids so I know it is not contaminated. I have the spongy clutch pedal that "hits" in different spots in the pedal travel. Done the bleed methods including taking the master off the firewall, so the master cylinder is bad. I don't want to spend the 60 bucks if this is not whats making it slip, I have a donor with a good a4ld that I will put in if the m5 comes back out for any reason. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

i wouldn't think the master would cuz it unless its holding a slight amount of pressure on the slave. a way to check it would probably press it a few times and slide under and crack the bleeder and see if theres pressure left on the slave

I cracked the bleeder and did get a little bit of pressure out of it, and the fluid was unusually dark, so I decided to bleed it one more time. Now I cant seem to get anymore fluid through it, it just kind of dribbles out slowly, and nothing has changed, its still slipping. The really odd thing is that it will grab sometimes like nothing is wrong. I am one more crawl under the truck away from putting in the auto.....

Does it slip only after the engine has warmed up?

I had a master that went bad like that once, the bypass valve that's supposed to open when the pedal is all the way up somehow had become plugged. Then heat from the engine would expand the fluid, causing the clutch to slip after 10 minutes or so of driving (if I undid the bleeder for a moment, a bit of fluid would squirt out and it would then be fine until I shut the truck off and let the engine cool).

If it's slipping all of the time however, I would suspect a worn or oil-contaminated clutch disc.

Got a Clutch slipping too.. PLEASE HELP!

I just bought an 87 bronco 2 with the 2.9 and 5 speed. The BACK freeze plug was popped, so I pulled the motor (After I diove it 1/4 mile home JUST FINE). EVERYTHING in the clutch seamed okay. (tags expired 13 months ago so its been sitting a while).

I test drove it today, and after I drove iot for about an hour, and I was shifting it alot it in 'city' driving, it the clutch started to SLIP. it got worse everything I shifted. EVENTUALLY, I put it in reverse and the pedel stayed down! and it slowly came up and went into reverse.

A few minutes later I parked it for about 30 minutes. and it shifted perfect, NO SLIP. Tonight I let my wife drive it, and I noticed it was slipping on her when she was shifting.

Pleanty of fluid in the master cylinder, and not leaking. I am her are BOTH experianced 5 speed drivers.

ANY ideas?
worn out pressure plate is my best guess BUT?????

Please let me know your thoughts, or experiences.
