can I swap?

I have an 83 ranger 4x4. I was wondering if any one could tell me if I would be able to put a rear end out of an 82 f100 under it without too many mods. I guess my question is are they even the same width with it being a fullsize truck it looks to be close but I'm not sure could any body tell me yeh or neh

you can put any axle under a ranger but.......the f100 is a full width axle, approx 3" wider on each side. You would have to move the spring perches closer and probable need a shorter drive shaft with a different end. The bolt pattern is also different. You might need to regear it to match the front. But besides that it should work.
