Can I layer over the door vents?

Going to sound deadening the doors and was wanting to just put material over the door vent. Would that cause some problem?

The door vent is to prevent rust inside the door, allows air to circulate and dry out moisture that comes in at the outside window seal

You may be able to put vent holes in the rear door jamb, but you don't get the benefit of the drier cab air to suck out the moisture

Make sure the drain holes in bottom of door are clear, I always add more drains in my doors

And you could spray a coating inside, bottom 1/4 of the door, to prevent rust, keep drains clear

Thanks Ron. Im cleaning the inside of the door now. Inside is actually really clean, but the bottom has a bit of overspray of adhesive. Its coming off but slowly. No rust anywhere.

They are part of the ventilation system. They allow air to move from the cabin into the doors (bypassing the door seals), and from there out through the louvers in the outside lower edge of the door. If you block them the blower will have a hard time moving air unless it's on Max AC (recirculate) or the windows are open.

they don't look bad. i would just leave them alone. if you're worried about them rattling, just remove them, but leave the hole to let air through. it can't rattle if it ain't there. lol
