Can i get an opinion? BIG Decision

when you "rebuilt" the carb did you check for play in the throttle shaft? That can also cause a idle to not be able to get set right. A run down on the emissions numbers will do us wonders though. thanks for a straight up problem now though.

Yea I know I'm out of town for the weekend so I can't get those numbers till later tonight... and yea I rebuilt 1 carb and found that play in the shaft and went and got a new body with no play.... and switched all the rebuild stuff over...
And next post I promise to have numbers haha

OK so as promised i would have the numbers i went to the truck and remembered i gave them to my mechanic to give to his smog tech! so it will have to wait till i post them on friday when i see my mechanic however i need some help!
being so new is frustrating to you guys i get it! and im trying to learn and answer the questions you have... while also learning all this stuff its like a cram session in college lol anyways

If i do have a rod knock should i find a new engine?
should i rebuild mine?

And with the problems im having (not being able to nail it down YET) and no body can seem to find the source im wondering...
After looking for new engines in case i needed one i found a Liened
84 bronco ii v6 2.8 REALLLLY clean engine Really clean body
He said $150 if i pull the engine $350 if they pull or $400 for the whole truck
This thing is a diamond in the rough but i have my ranger...
i dont want to gove up but its really nice... i tried turning it over and had a bad battery
odometer read 64k and i dont know if that 64k 164k 264k who knows...

what should i do?
i was thinking about selling the ranger for what i got it and get the bronco and restart...

Man, that looks identical to the 85 I had a few years ago, I needed to borrow my brothers pickup one day, (before I got my Ranger), I left him the B2 to use, he rolled it & totaled it out! :bawling:

I think it's time to start putting together your RBV collection. I would get the B2 & keep the Ranger. I would never be able to live with myself if I started picking apart that B2....it needs to be saved!! :headbang:

That's just my opinion though, it's obviously up to you what you want to do. If you are going to have to pay him to pull the motor it's a no brainer.... you might as well get the whole thing! :icon_cheers:

But a rod-knock is not a technical term.... it just is a descriptional word made up to describe the sound.

I'd move out of Cali and drive the balls off all of em till they blow, then park them in a field and buy another (oh wait, that's me)

in a pre-response, lol, I don't mean make them parked projects, I just park them in our truck graveyard, bout a dozen ol' rigs lined up in back of field, for the cows to have a place to scratch their back, haha

i would find a 5.o explorer and remove drivetrain and computer, elec. harnesses and swap in to ranger. that BII needs to be saved

I know right? I'm in a hard spot here lol....dammmmmnnnn

ask your parents or relitives to spot you....thats what i would do.... its better to save a rbv you can use while you fix the one that started your love for rbvs

ps my rbv collection started last nov. i had(still have) my 83 2wd 2.8 for 2 years now, and had my 88 for 8 months. now im looking for b2s

I don't have room for it... and I'm so new at this to take on 2 will be hard I wanna buy it tho it was too nice pls I think it might have back feees. I don't know yet though

park the ranger at a friends house that doesnt mind it being there...... and get the b2. hell, if i was closer i would lend you the money.......

start your collection before you get married.....thats the key thing. cause im sure your spouse wouldnt want extra rbvs in your collection you started before

can u get the vin off of the BII? I think a friend has an active carfax account I can run the VIN...
