Can I balance my trailer tires?

I've noticed that the tires seem to have a small grain of sand in them, when I turn them round I can hear some sand rolling around. Not sure if its in the tire or the rim.
should I even bother to pay for balance service?

If it's just a little bit of sand it won't matter. My jetski trailer has 4.00 x 12 tires and I get them balanced. I do take highway trips sometimes and I figure they're spinning at a lot more rpm than my truck's tires. Also I figure balancing makes it easier on the trailer's wheel bearings.
