98' 4.0L 5-spd 2wd shifts fine 90% of the time. Never grinds. Just when at a stop HARD to get into 1st....and sometimes it can't go into any other gear without a HARD push....still no gear grinding.

Almost appears to be how the truck is positioned. Clutch and master / slave replaced last year. Can bad motor mounts cause this condition ?

Sounds like the slave cylinder. Thats what happened to me when it first started to go out. Also just check the level of fluid in the resi for the slave cylinder.

Is the plate in eaglefixer's link the support for the pedals? My truck seems to occasionally do what ndccpf1 is speaking of. Sorry to hijack but I'm curious as well.

yes, The pedals mount to the bracket and will come with both new brake and clutch pedals
