yep, i wasn't sure if thats what you meant or not lol. I wouldnt mind the newer 4.0 exhaust on an older 4.0 exhaust, you know the dual in single out style exhaust? but take the stocker muffler and put on a dual in dual out muffler to run duals

The 86-88 2.9l Rangers/BII's had a dual "Y" pipe and a 2 in cat, so swapping to a 2 in/ 2out cat makes a dual exhaust simple. I sent 2 from the cat through a 2 in/ 1 out muffler just the same.

Also, the Nisson GTR or Skyline as it was once called isn't a v6, it is an inline 6.

I just built a muffler for my friends 2.9 '91 Ranger. 1/4" oil well casing, about 5 inches long and 9 inches tall. single 2 1/2" in, dual 2 1/4" out. Dual chambered, and one wing-plate baffle. Very strange looking muffler.

He got it put on today, started back from where the cat was deleted with 2 1/2" pipe. The muffler was hung right behind the cab, right under the up-most part of the bed. The 2 1/4" duals side exit under the frame and spring hanger in front of the passenger side wheel side by side. They then turn 60* degrees up, and tilt backwards slightly towards the wheel, and run up the side of the bed about 8-inches.

It sounds completly insane. Its deep as hell, thumps at idle, and does not buzz or become ricey no matter what the RPM. However, rolling up the passenger side window completly eliminates the exhaust note. So its not annoying at all.

when I owned my v6 S10 I was asked constantly if it had a v8. lopey cam will make all the difference in the sound
oh and yes a V6 can sound like a V8 heck even a 4cyl can

i have cut my cats out, and have straight pipe (2.5") going back to a flowmaster super 40 muffler, its sounds GNARLY. Ill try and get sound clip later.

I put a cat back magnaflow dual exhaust on my 2008 ranger.
I think it sounds good and I gained some real power on top end.
A pricey setup, but I like it alot.
