camshaft position sensor

well here ya go...96 exploder 4.0, engine has been runnung rough, so i pulled the plugs and found one that was not right. running into this before, turned out i had bad head gasket. so i figured it was the same thing now...nope. did gaskets and it runs the same as before..did a little lookn into and a buddy said its my camshaft pos sensor(located where the dizzy shoud be)..it'll run but its missing all over the place..got spark at all 6 wires and got new plugs, but same thing..
 
Are all 6 injectors firing properly? Did you pul any pending codes as well as stored codes on the vehicle? Would be the most likly place to start looking. If you have means to pull live data while the truck is running it could also give an indication of any possible issues. Also run a compression check and cylinder leak down test to see where those numbers are.
