Not a topper, I mean a full camper.

I've seen pics of a small truck (not a Ranger) with a pop up camper, but they seem to be a rare breed. I'm looking for info like price, weight, MPG penalty, etc.

I'm thinking camper + Ranger = road trip.

Ideas?

I'd rather pull a small camper than have somthing in a ranger bed. it'd be heavy and you have to take it everywhere you go!

IMO a topper and a air matress, some curtains would make a great camper.

I've *never* seen a popup for a Ranger, now I have seen the slide ins.

But really I like the ideal of the Scamps:

This is a camper made by Pastime Campers out of Oregon. It's pictured on top of my old 02 Ranger. These campers are loot brand new ($10,000 or better). This model weighed in at 1050 lbs dry. I stole this one for $1000 back in 07 and it was an 04. I later sold for $2850 on ebay (the guy thought he got a smokin deal at that price). If you plan on getting one I strongly suggest getting airbags and good shocks to handle the load. My truck was all over the road before I installed airbags. These pics were before I had airbags. You can see how bad it sacked out the truck, and that was with the dry.

Just roll out a sleeping bag in the bed and go to sleep. Thats what I do when hunting weather is good. If not, I sleep in the passenger seat.

Maybe one of those truck tents will do. Ultra light, enough shelter from the rain. Thou its no camper.

The ABS Bramaha tops are only about 125#. Pretty easy to lift on and off.

Would love to find an older popup for my longbed Ranger (94), but it's like finding the only one inch piece of scrap copper cable in a two acre junkyard.

A superb combination of economy and comfort, the Six-Pac T100S is the ideal camper for your mini or mid-size short-bed truck.

Complete with a wide array of standard amenities that make this model both exceptionally functional and livable, the T100S retains its lightweight classification, making this a camper you can handle... both on the road and at the fuel pump.

No matter where your adventures take you, you'll be glad you're making the trip in a Six-Pac.

I built a plywood platform with 2x4 and put in back to use with the shell that is on mine, and purchased a roll of 7ft x 3ft-4 inch thick replacement upholstery foam from Ebay-that I put down to sleep on with my Slumber jack bag. I am still amazed at its comfort, and how well I sleep on it. The roll of foam was about 50.00, and well worth it. Try it.

The one on Maverick's truck is the first one I've ever seen for a Ranger. Ranger's aren't really meant for that, IMO just get a Class III hitch and a trailer.

If you want to get creative, there is the old slide-in with a tag axle that Jeep made back in 1969. :icon_twisted: :icon_thumby:

I posted these on the Sport Trac board a few weeks ago when somebody asked about a slide-in.
