Ive been looking but i cant find specific questions and i figured someone in this section would know. If i got the dual shock 6.0 camburg kit but im getting rid of my front axles and going 2wd. I obviously do not have coil buckets. Would it be that big of a diff to say, run 2.0 8 inch coilovers to my stock shock location or with the 6.0 itd be better to get coil buckets fabbed on?:dunno:

you don't need coil buckets, you have torsion bars. if you look at the pics of the kit on their website, you'd see that none of the pictures show a coil bucket either.

well the kit confused me because the 5.5 has coils, and the 6.0 has dual shock setup. and the shock mount is against the frame, not as tall as my shocks. I mean my shock mount i thought was in a diff spot, maybe not, im just confused ill go look tomorrow. it just looked a lot lower then a stock shock mount. thats why i was asking about longer 2.0 coilovers, or 1 coilover 1 shock. just some advice from people who know... well body lift on the way so ill put that on and gonna order new body bushings even though mine arent too bad. figured a good time to replace. taxes need to hit my account already.

he is running the 6.0 kit with 2 2.0 SAW shocks. for this type of set up, a new upper shock mount needs to be made, but it's totally worth it in the long run. you can order the kit with only a single shock, but honestly, you're going to wish you had 2 up there. if you want to run a coilover, get one with a remote reservoir. you can then remove your torsion bars completely, and fabricate a new upper mount for the shock. it's been done a few times, usually by just using some pieces of metal plate on 3 sides.

the difference between the 5.5 and the 6.0 kit is the truck they're made for. the 5.5 kit is made for my type of truck, the 2wd non-edge. that frame does have a coil bucket on the front, because it is not based off of the 4x4 frame like the edge model is.

oh, and body lifts = fail for off roading. the pucks used to lift the body will end up tearing through the sheet metal.

hmmm, ill have to call the James first thing in morning see about canceling that order then. Ill just replace bushings, i didnt think it work rip through sheet metal, i thought at worst a bolt would snap and id have to replace but i do not wanna play sheet metal games...
well before i order anything over 2k bucks, im gonna see what i can come up with above what i got, maybe i can order a 4wd kit... it might be better for me to go the v8 route for now and save towards what i truly want. thank you for the pics tips n info.

no problem. if you check out dezertrangers.com, you can search around there for a lot of info on different kits for your model truck. there are a lot more people on that site that know the desert scene than over here.
