camber problems

i put in some rough country leveling coils got some new camber bushings put those in... and now when i drive foward the top of the tires lean way in and when i back up the top of the tires lean out any one know why? and will getting an alighnment fix it?

What shape are your radius arm bushings in? Also did you look at the pivot bushings?

just did radius arm bushings about a month ago and piviot bushings i never even looked at them

If the pivots are gonzo they will cause some weird stuff to happen. Not sure if what you are experiencing is that but there isn't much else that could let things move like that. I just installed new Mevotech ones from RockAuto about $20 per set.

Well if you just installed a suspension lift and haven't had it aligned the camber is going to do some stupid stuff.


Get a camber gauge and zero out the camber.

Your toe could be off as well. You can get it close enough with a tape measure to get you down the road temporarily.

Its the toe that is causing the suspension jacking. Get it aligned.

I used the good old string-alignment method in the Tech Section.....had to read it 5 times for my brain to comprehend it (yes....i am s-l-o-w)...

(ALL the suspension parts HAVE to be in good shape---like the guys said)

So far, I've gotten 20,000 miles on my string-alignment (for the cost of a roll of nylon twine and a pair of bushings)....and the tires look great.....

"We don't need no stinking alignment shop"

Of course---had I not been on meds--I NEVER would have tried to do it

Keep in mind that the alignment will have to be adjusted again in the near future as the springs settle into their final height. This usually takes a few weeks.

yep...make SURE that you rotated each spring so that the top end of the coil bumps against the "stop" that's built into the upper spring bracket....doing that will make the springs settle into place a lot faster....
