im building an engine for my ranger, its a 71 302 block, bored .020, im wondering if anyone knows of a decent cam and lifter set up to use, heads also (oh btw its getting fuel injected)

im doing an old gm throttle bottle style fuel injection so it will have the same intake as carborated

You going to upgrade to a roller cam? Where do you want the power, going to favor bottom end torque or high end HP? Things to think about.

im going for low end torque, im willing to upgrade to roller, nothing but benifits there

For what is worth I would use a flat tappet cam in that 71 engine as a converting to a roller cam would cost you in the area of 600 dollars for new part that are good quality. For that kind on money you should find a newer roller block and save some money on the rebuild. Now with that being said I would use the comp cams magnum 268H for the flat tappet block and the Ford E-cam for a roller block set up. Either of these cams would be a good chioce for what you are wanting to do. Hope this clears things a little bit for you. :icon_thumby:

i was actually just looking at that comp cams set up, jegs has it for 350 which isnt too back, and it comes with valve springs and keepers, im prob going to go that route and get a set of valves and rockers, i have a engine out of a 94 f150 lso , but its shott, when i pulled the drain plug almost 2 gallons of water came out before any oil did, so im afraid to even open it up lol, im just using it for mock up until i finish my 71 engine, thanks for the help though, greatly appreciated

Going roller in a no roller block's price came down somewhat. Howards sells retrofit lifters now for about $265. Summit lists em in their catalog.
