I have been thinking of taking the body off of my 93 Explorer, and swapping a Ranger cab on. Find a Ranger with a good cab, scrap/sell the rest of it, as well as my Explorers body. I wouldn't bother with the box, I would go with a flat deck. I am unsure of the legal way of doing it. Would I just insure it as the Ranger ? Or could I get caught and screw myself somewhere down the road. I would need it to pass a vehicle inspection as well.

Has anyone swapped a cab here and know the legalities ? Main thing I am concerned of is the vins/registration etc.

I know my buddy swapped a gen 1 reg cab and shortened box onto a Bronco 2 frame and he registered it as the ranger.

Do you know if he legally did that ? Or if he ever had a vehicle inspection done on it registered that way ?
I am just thinking if someone was to find a vin on the frame and found they didnt match if it were to cause any problems.

i think this is over thought.... how strict are your inspections? we don't even have them here.
