I love my ’03 Ranger Edge but the Cdn winters have taken their toll on her, she's rotten on the underside now. The frame still very good, along with the engine/trans (4.0L / 5 speed manual). I just purchased a 2008 Sport that lost a fight with the guard-rail but the cab is fine.. bed too. They're not mint, scratches and some dents but no rust.
I want to use the 2008 cab on my 2003. The wiring harnesses at the firewall are different between the 2 trucks so I guess I’ll have to use the original ’03 wiring harness for the right plug-ins.
Am I nuts to try this??
The trucks are both black and looks real similar.
Money is tight so I thought this would be a good option.
Any/all replies, good and bad are wanted and appreciated.
Have photos just cant figure out how to attach.

I was under the impression I could R&R just the cab (at the firewall) but what I see on here is it goes right to the radiator support. I'm not sure the front part is still straight on the 2008.
Does anyone know if the cab only can be replaced?
Thanks,

Full size trucks have a separate cab from the rad core support. Rangers are spot welded together. I have cut the spots to remove the core and inner fenders at the cab. IIRC it was 29 spot welds per side. I screwed the new core on with sheet metal screws over two years ago and no signs of backing off.

Thanks for the info....I guess I need to remove it all in one then grind each weld once it's off the frame..
So glad to find this out before I started. I'm actually starting to 2nd guess this project.

When I did it I removed the fenders, hood and doors. Then cut the spot welds with a special drill bit. The bit cost me $14.00 and drillling the spot welds took me about 5 minutes per side. I'll see if I can find pics.

The bit;

And a fuzzy pic, shows the holes drilled and the inner fender loose;

The hardest part [for me] is actually getting started.

Very helpful info you're sharing,..thanks again.
I think I'll copy the procedure you used. The '08 gets delivered this weekend coming.
The pics are a big help too.
Nice cage !
