Okay, rebuilt the C5 from my B2, and it's ready to go back in......except.....I'm not sure if the orig torque converter is okay or not. Is there any way to bench test the converter? Also, if it's not any good....the only option I have is the non-lockup replacement...right? If I have to go with the non-lockup, do I need to change out the valve body to a C4? and how much fuel economy will I lose without the lockup?
Thanx in advance

Most people would suggest to get a new or rebuilt touque converter it you rebuild the tranny.

It would depend on how the tranny looked when you rebuilt it - if you did it yourself. If a shop did it they wont warranty it if you use the old torque conv. If the tranny was in decent shape - like just burnt clutches and not a bunch of metal shavings, etc. I would try to reuse it - make sure to drain all the fluid.

you can use the non-lockup t/c on the c5, I did it for awhile, but then switched to a c4 valve body with a shift kit. I don't think it would hurt the gas mileage too much.
