what years did the c4 transmission come with the small bellhousing
 
By small, you mean for use with a 157/160 tooth flywheel? In that case all years. If you mean the one that took the 147 tooth, then that would be in the mid 70's in the Pintos, Mustang II's. Way too many variables.

i meant the smallest bellhousing size that will bolt and stand up to a 5.0
 
For a 157 tooth as mac said.The Mustang II with a 302 had the 147,good luck finding one of those.
I used the 157 in mine.No problems.
