C clip on end of d35 axle

Hey guys, I need some help identifying a part. It's a little c clip on the end of my axle. I believe its a Dana 35 axle. It's on my 91 expo. This is on the hub end and its the very last thing on the axle besides the manual hubs. It appears to be a clip that hold on a splined washer. Taking a guess I would think its there to hold the axle out snug so I don't lose a c clip in the diff. Any ideas where i can find one of these clips?

it's called a snap ring, ford dealer can probably get you a part number, a quick google search didn't get me a part- or grab one next trip to your local junkyard.

Yes, c clip is the right term. I had to get mine from my local Ford dealer and they had to order it from another dealer. A 4 pack was about $60 though. I think I still have 2 unused ones in the bag some where. When I tried to pull them at the junk yard, One fell into the gravel and was gone, the other went flying across the yard...

It does hold the axle out, so the rear spindle seal will actually work.

When taking them off, I like to use a pair of needle nose pliers and turn the clip until it's pointing down then set each side of the pliers tips on the ends of the clip and pop it off straight down. It doesn't fly as far that way....
