c-4 no drive=fubar?

finnally got the truck out on the road sunday,just shorty headers .
ive only drove this thing around in a pasture beside the house,that was with the dual carbed motor so i just ran it enough to break in the cam.since then i've changed to 1 carb and diff. heads


got out on the road shifted it from low to 2nd it would snap like it was supposed to....wound it up and went to drive....nothing there....back to 2nd....pulled its ass off,just no drive.

have rev. and 1st and 2nd.trans was supposed to be reworked,may have been b.s.'ed about that.should i just pull this pig and have it gone thru or is there something i should look for?its a 66 or 67 c-4.

sounds stupid but have you checked your fluid level ?

Ok since you have reverse that means direct drum(3rd gear) may be ok..is it not shifting to 3rd or is it like spinning out or slipping?? if its just not shifting to 3rd check vacuum at the modulator make sure you have vacuum at idle..another thing is the vacuum madulator valve could be in backwards or stuck...vacuum modulator valve is behind modulator that the pin pushes on and the little valve has a recces on the end that pin sets in if its flat there then valve in backwards.

Also make sure tranny is full of trans fluid.

pulls like crazy in 1st & 2nd....shift to drive (b&m mega shifter)just revs.
dropped the pan last night.......fluid still looks new and smells good,pans clean.
my so called friend wants $500 to bench build it with me buying the kit.i may yank it this weekend.

if you're paying for the kit AND pulling the tranny and "handing" it to him, my question, allbeit a little vulgar, are you supplying the grease for the fucking you are about to receive? it's only worth half that if you are supplying parts and pulling tranny and re-installing it yourself. sorry just my oppinion

thats why i said "so called friend" lol.he would expect me to bring my own grease to at that price.ill try it myself before i pay anywhere near that.

thanks bruce.........i feel the same if i can help someone i do..it's not all about the money.i wish i had someone to just look over my shoulder and walk me thru it,they wouldnt have to get dirty..lol.
