Lots of sheetmetal will be lost, more in the back than front. I could've ran 37s with only minor trimming but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the 39s. I've listed the 39s on Craigslist as well as other sites (like TRS) for sale or trade but got zero responses. That means I'll keep them and cut whatever I have to so they work. Running the full-width axles will help some because most of the tire is outside the body but I'll still have to cut quite a bit.

Looks good, this would probably be a safer set-up for those wanting to do a D44 SAS then people doing it on there own and having problems due to bad set-ups. Plus it can be done in a weekend too.

Next they need a D30 bolt on kit (use my truck as a gunie pig) LOLOLOL.

looks awesome, look forward to following the post. I was talking to Thomas at James Duff the other day about the 5.5 TTB Kit and then was in contact with Anthony at Stone Crusher. Not planning on doing a SAS setup my self but rather I'm going with the 5.5 James Duff kit with Stone Crusher's Steering kit. Hats off to both for a sweet set up and designing a kit/system that allows the rest of us...without a complete weld and fabrication shop at hand to make these mods.

Today's progress.

It's all grown up!!

Got the rear SPOA done. Went back to the stock springs plus the shackle I was running with the lift springs. Still sit about 1" low in the rear so we made new spring perches that were a little taller. Still sits a little lower in the rear but the rear springs are already settled and we plan on the front springs to settle some so it should even out within a few weeks.

Also got the crossmember just about complete. Next is shortening the front driveshaft by about 1.5" and lengthening the rear by about 2.5". Brake lines followed up with my new Stonecrusher Steering and I'll be mobile! Well, that is, once I cut a bunch of sheetmetal!

Yeah, I've already drawn out the cut lines. Will get into the rear door some but I plan on lowering the bumpstops about 4" to control uptravel. I'll have downtravel like a mo fo so no problems.

I'm hoping the chromo shafts will hold together but if not I've got a backup plan.........

I dunno. Don't see why it wouldn't.

One thing I learned while building Samurais---low HP + tons of gearing. I'm more of a technical driver than just gas it and go. I'd like to think the 44 will be ok but I have worked out a deal with RCV Performance to get my hands on a set of their CV axles if I want them. If that don't pan out then it will be time to slap that KP60 together.
Really want to get my hands on a doubler. I have a line on an Atlas but it's one of the old 3.2:1 ratios. I want at least a 4:1 in the t-case. In my old zuk I had a 6.5:1 t-case with 5.29 axle gears. You could really crawl with that and that's what I'm looking for once again. So if ya know anyone that knows anyone that can hook me up, I'm all for it!
