I'm in a pickle.

Sold the 35s that were on my Explorer and bought a sweet set of 39.5 Iroks. I'm starting the SAS next week but have run into a problem....I think the 39s may be too big. What's that you say? One can never be too big? I'm thinking so. I only want about another inch or so of lift with the full-width axles. We started drawing out my cut lines today and there is a lot of sheet metal that's gotta come off. I ran across a set of 37 Krawlers to trade my 39s to but Krawlers just dont work that well here. So, I don't know what to do, keep the 39s and cut like a mo fo? Trade for the Krawlers and hope it's dry every time I go riding?
Need someone from outside to give me non-biased input. I know the Ex will be nothing but bad-ass sitting on 39s but it's gonna take a lot to get it there, possibly having to go higher than I want. 37s are OK but TN has wet rocks and mud--Krawlers aren't the best choice. Hmmmmmmmmm......

i'd say try the 37s for now, if you dont like them you can always change over to the 39s, on the other hand if you try the 39s and cut the body up and dont like it after all, you dont really have the option of simply putting the 37s back on, well you could but your sheet metal would already be hacked....? just my 2 cents

if you had more time I'd say hold out and look for some different 37s but in this case I think just go ahead and get those and then upgrade again if you have to

Go big or go home! :icon_rofl:

I'd do whatever it took to get them on. You already got 'em, why not use 'em.

P.S. Take a lesson from my avatar. :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl:

I have a 6" lift now don't want to go bigger than say 8" of lift. No body lift. Willing to limit uptravel some to keep the tires out of the body. I'm hoping the full width axles will help some. To get the 37s I'd have to trade my 39s so there is no trying them out. I've got another week to decide but it's not going to be an easy decision.

Those 37" krawlers weigh damn near the same as the 39.5" Iroks..... I loved my Krawlers for daily driving, they just didnt do so well in the mud. I grooved them up, and sold them to a buddy that runs them beadlocked at 8lbs, and they go places. I've seen Iroks in action and haven't really been impressed. I'd try and find an alternative....

I agree with tpenner, Once you cut your stuck. How you gonna limit your up travel?
