I sold a kid the BW1350 electric shift out of my '86 parts truck awhile ago, it had the slip yoke front output like I understood 1350's had. Now he is all up in arms because his '88 has a flange output and swears up and down it is a 1350, and all electric shift t-cases were 1350's they just changed the front outputs on the later ones.

Did they make such a beast? I thought that was the big tell if it was a 1350 or a 1354...

I also can't get through to him that the A4LD front driveshaft out the truck may or may not fit because he has a 5-speed...

There definitely is a difference.
I put the shafts in my '88 super that fit when I swapped in the manual stuff.
I can't remember which ones, but probably from the '87 donor.
Both the '87 and '88 have slip yokes. 88 had a 4ald, the 87 a fm145, one set of shafts is longer than the other.

My 88 Custom has a double cardan joint at the transfer and I think it has a slip joint too.

Transfers have a flange for the rear shafts.

Does this one have pics of said transfer case?

87-89 STXs high-riders had a 13-50 with a fixed front output. So yes, they did make such a beast.

If the '88 had an fm146, The driveshaft is the same length as the A4LD.

I bet that is it then...

By looking at the truck I wouldn't bet any sum of money on anything being original as far as the trans or t-case.

The STX cases are rare. Tell him I got 2 of them (manual shift), If he wants 1.... $500 with shifter, $450 without.
