OK guys, question:

I've got a 99 Ranger 4x4 that has a BW 1354 T-case. And my front driveshaft is shot. I have been blessed to have someone that had a Duel Cardan Driveshaft brand new for an explorer/Ranger Pre 97 year. From what I Have heard, is that the output shaft on the 1354 (my t-case) can be swapped to a output shaft from a pre97 model year 4.0 Ranger and bolt up straight across. In 98 they changed the driveshaft from a duel cardan driveshaft setup to the piece of crap tullip cv boot style. So can a 99 BW 1354 T-case output shaft be interchangeable with a PRE 97 1354 output shaft? Anyone got pictures of the shaft from their pre 98....like 94-97?

Thanks for the help

it can be done, but you have to disassemble the t-case to do it.

Maurice, basically I'm picking up one of Bobs (rwenzig) duel cardan shafts that he has:

So you have to split the case in order to change the shaft out? I thought it was just one bolt and it slid out? So there is more involved in swapping that sucker out than I thought.

The way I remember it is the case has to comes apart. You can ask Bob to clearify, he is pretty knowing.

Ok I found out that Neapco STILL makes the adapter to go from the CV style to a universal joint (it has the ears to mount that shaft) and I can get one here in oklahoma for a good price. Now I know that you have to shorten the shaft (the one pictured above) anyone know how much? Or how do I accuratley measure the distance of it? I know I have to get the adapter first and then measure, but where do you measure from?

You measure from cup to cup on the yoke. If your truck is lifted, I doubt you will have to shorten the shaft.

u sure....I've got the superlift kit, but I still think with the adapter i'm going to have to, the new shaft has a slip yoke that's good for 3 inche's I think...but I don't think that will be enough

I would try it first. Since your front diff doesn't move, you can use up all the slip yoke without damaging the shaft. That will give you about 2" shorter shaft when the yoke is collapsed.

ok yeah I will thanks bud....appreciate the help

Make sure to post pictures!
