BW 1354 input shaft

Has anyone tried to get or make a 31 spline input shaft for a BW 1354?

I know the popular solution is a 25 spline output shaft for the transmission, but I think the transfer case mod would be a better solution.

Any ideas?

To go behind what trans?

Cause if you want anything other than a stock ranger tranny, you need to have an adapter machined as well.

I'm using a 4R70W from a 97 V8 Exploder. I don't want to use the AWD BW4404 and if my eyeball calibration is correct, the BW1354 would bolt up to the adapter. The problem is the output shaft splines. It almost seems that there might be enough meat in the BW1354 input shaft to bore it out and re spline to 31 spline, but that would need the appropriate rotary broach or some very tedious and expensive machining.

Just hoping to hear some success stories before I commit a huge amount of dollars to this.

I'm using a 4R70W from a 97 V8 Exploder. I don't want to use the AWD BW4404 and if my eyeball calibration is correct, the BW1354 would bolt up to the adapter.

You better get that eyeball calibration in for some service.
The fullsize bolt pattern is 6 bolts.
The RBV bolt pattern is 5 and on a smaller bolt circle.


The 4406 from the F-series is a common swap into the v8 Explorer if you want to ditch the AWD.
