i want to get more stopping out of my truck because it sucks, my dad owned the truck before me and always bought the cheapest part and someone to put it on. it doesent take mutch to lock up the brakes but i dont really want that. i would like to know if anyone knows if converting the drums in the back to dics will be worth it in the long run? im looking at getting slotted rotors from

im not sure what kind of calipers and pads to get though

Slotted rotors from JC Whitney are most likely cheap ass chinese rotors that they added slots to....

On a 1991 Ranger?

Frankly I'd "fix" the brakes by unbolting the radius arms and axle pivot bushing bolts and removing the entire front axle and replacing the entire assembly with a dana 35 front axle
from a 1995-97 4.0 4x4 Ranger.

as that's what I did on my 1987 4.0 4x4 supercab daily driver
and it's what I'm in the process of doing to my 1993 Ranger supercab.

The 1995-97 twin piston calipers will not actually stop you any better than the single piston calipers you now have will presuming both are working as-originally-designed, the problem is the single piston brake setup has a "achilles heel"... the steering knuckle itself
is a wear item and must be replaced to truely fix the brakes.

Read the sticky above on brake upgrades with factory parts.

As for rear discs? probably not worth it in terms of stopping power, as oin an average ranger less than 40% of the weight is over the rear wheels anyway.

there are other reasons for swapping in an axlke that already has discs (a 1995-01 Explorer axle) but that requires welding...
