I have a B2300 with a bunch of old cracked/swollen/compressed bushings. The sets from prothane are very pricey ($200). Also, the ones most needed are not supplied with the kit. So with access to a metal lathe and a fab shop I figure I can make them myself without much trouble.
Does anyone know where the dimensions of bushings may be located? The only dimensions I have found are for the leaf spring/shackle bushings. I would like to machine the parts and swap them out rather than taking them off, getting a measurement, making the part, and taking the parts off a second time.
There is a Regal Plastics in the nearest town and I plan on picking up some polyurethane rod. I think I will go with 70A for hardness. From what I have read, this machines easily and is a good balance between rigidity and noise reduction.
The worst bushings on the truck are the frame-to-transmission-crossmember ones, followed by control arm, sway bar, shocks, then leaf springs.
Any help is greatly appreciated
