So today I took my 4x4 ranger down a trail to a river. I decided to go off the trail on a grassy area to turn around. I had my friend get out to check that the ground is solid and she okayed it. So I drove through there, but there was a huge 3 ft hole that she didnt see. So my lovely little stock truck got its front left tire stuck down there and it bottomed out my truck.

Now I am smelling a burnt smell coming from truck while I was driving home. Is this normal or is that bad...? My truck doesn't get hot or anything, just smells like something is burning. I have heard this is common when using 4wd when it has not been used much. I have gone mudding a couple times before where I have used 4wd. However, this time I got so stuck I am scared that I broke something.

What should I look for/watch out for? (I am keeping my eye on the oil)

Burning smells are never normal.
How deep was it stuck? Maybe what you're smelling is some mud caught in the heat shields around the exhaust (the catalytic converter in particular)?
