I think i have a bad head-gasket problem or warped/cracked heads. When ever I start my truck after its no longer warm it really smokes out the tail pipe and it feels really gutless when taking off. When the engine is warm it stops smoking alot and is no longer gutless. I want to stop this so I don't end up permanently ruining my engine so Is it as simple as a bad head gasket that was replaced about 1000-1500 miles ago or do I have bad heads???:dunno:

You will be the first to know apoun teardown, inspection and after you get the heads magnafluxed. :icon_thumby:

If you want to save the engine, don't drive it until you get it fixed.

Wouldn't a compression test first possibly reveal something like a gasket issue or warpage? If coolant were leaking into the cylinders, putting air pressure into the cylinder should cause bubbles to appear in the radiator....reversing the leak, so to speak.

Or not. Just a thought, though, before doing a tear-down.

If the heads are suspected to be warped, then it would be good to go ahead and rip it down. That being done, you got to put new gaskets on anyway, so hopefully that part of the issue will be solved. A visit to a good machine shop to check the heads will hopefully reveal any warpage or cracks.

check your oil for milkyness. if your burning coolant, some will be in your oil.

if thats the case, you will need headgaskets, just pray your heads arent cracked or warped.

Check the spark plugs. If one is really clean...
