After destroying my front coils in a 6ft jump in a hill-and-hole and taking first place and also ruining my rear leafs from over extension at rausch creek, im def in need of some bumpstops and limiting straps.

Ive done a little research and most of it returns lowered ricer info.. junk.

Ill be installing a new d35 in the front of my truck along with a rear 8.8 both locked with 4.56 and chevy leafs in the rear. I never really took bumpstops into consideration, but I never wanted to rock climp or jump the truck before.

I just have a few questions:

How far should the bumpstops be from the axle? Should they drop the same as the lift to remain at a stock position?

Is up-travel needed when crawling?

I know these are basic questions, but its just something I never payed attention to.

Don't over extend your shocks. Cycle the suspension properly and set the bumps about an inch before the shocks bottom out.

Bumpstops arent going to help you with overextending your leaf springs though.

If you plan to jump the truck more, your basic poly/rubber bump stop will not cut it. When you get the suspension to the height you want, just flex each corner until it bottoms the shock out, or hits something else. Then just measure that point and lower your bump stop to this point + .5-1.0''
