Building EFI fuel system

i have turned around more than once

Just an idea though....and im not sure if they even did...but how high of elevations were the factory 2150 high altitudes rated for? Just get a 2 to 4 adaptor and bolt that on up high. Be alot cheaper and less headache....just an idea. But like i said i dont know what they were jetted at

Actually the Ford variable venturi carbs are supposed to be awesome at altitude... but then you have a pile of obsolete that everybody that has been around them seems to hate and nobody really knows if they ever worked correctly when new.

I was thinking more like cobbling togther as in being roadside\trailside and either getting it going or walking.

I once used a bottle cap to jam open a choke linkage..cant do that if a coolant sensor fails...

that kinda stuff

No need when every O'Reilly has a wall full of Edelbrock parts...

Really I don't think my Edelbrock has really ever given me any problems. I was chasing my tail last year with a hard start issue, I found a couple possible wiring issues but nothing really fixed until I put a new battery in it. It seems the voltage to the ignition was getting sapped by the starter so it had weak spark when cranking.

Really, I run a ton of carbs. Keep good fuel in them and don't let them sit forever and they run great. Again the reasons I am going to EFI have nothing to do with reliability in a strand me on the side of the highway kind of way.

Even i hate the VV carbs. Ive dealt with one or two and it honestly was one of the dumbest things ever. They never ran right it seemed.

I wasnt trying to be a dick just was throwing out an option you may not of thought of. Honestly for aftermarket carbs i love edelbrocks. Set em and forget em. Ive had quite a few and none ever gave me an issue. Ive had a couple holleys and never had much luck with them.

Athough my favorite OEM carb is the 2100\2150. They arent sexy or good for lots of power but they just work. Plus they are dirt simple.

Id be more worried about oil starvation then fuel starvation lol
Ford motors don’t need oil. Take the 2.9l for example… it rejects all the oil and coolant you pour in it and dumps it on the ground.

Yeah yeah yeah

You dont know excitement untill you wonder if the smoke coming in the vents is manifold burn off or a fire.

My 2.8 :icon_rofl:

Towards the end it would push the dipstick out and blow oil on the manifold out the dipstick tube.

Sounds like the Camry I had for a couple of years. The oil pressure light started flickering on for a couple seconds at a time, but with weeks in between. The car was a turd and I never put real time into investigating the mystery of whether there was a real problem or an electrical gremlin. Until the day I discovered suddenly that it was a very real problem, and the next day it went to the junkyard.

In my case it was excessive blowby... caused by the carburetor of all things.

Previous owner had hardwired it to run so the feedback carb just ran full rich and the timing didn't adjust. I durasparked it which helped it run a lot better but was going hard down the rat hole of V8 swapping by then and lacked the ambition to replace the carburetor on an already mortally wounded engine. I had the 302 that is currently in it when it started doing dipstick thing so the timing worked out ok in the end. It crossed the finish line and drove itself into the operating room. It actually still ran pretty good.

My B2 isnt bad but my ranger....after it sat for a while i drove it to the gas station and the attendent lady said "excuse me sir but i think your trucks on fire"....

The look on her face when i shrugged my shoulders was priceless. I could literally smell the oil inside the station
