Hi guys My 98 3.0 is getting close to having 400,000km on the motor. I know these engines go for a long time, but Im thinking I should start looking for a replacement.

Im thinking either getting another 3.0 puting a cam, rockers and other goodies on it. But than I start to think maybe I should just go get a v8 exploder. hmmm opinions?

well Having a built 3.0 is more unique and rare while alot of people swap in the sploder 5.0's you'd spend a heck of alot less on the v8 swap depending on the condition of the Donar vehicle's Donations, building a 3.0 IMO would be cooler, cause there isn't an abundance of people on here that have heavily built 3.0's.

There's a guy named Tom Morana that makes everything V6. He sales a 3.0 Stroker kit for this engine and is as expensive as swaping a real V8. Not just a Junkyard V8.
If You really want to impress the V6 community... Go for it. Don't let no Idiot stand in between Your unique dreams and you. After all: What is life without a Unique challenge?
Just type Tom Morana on any search engine.

Although the 5.0 is cheaper in most cases, the 3.0 is a very durable engine and usually lasts more than 300k miles. For me this makes the 3.0 a very good candidate because i think that durability is king. im going to try to get around 200 ponies out of mine and ill be satisfied.

Very true, my 3.0 has 353,xxx on it as of now. I say build the 3.0.

The 3.0L is very durable when STOCK. If you build the 3.0L to anywhere NEAR the power-specs of a mild 5.0L, (you'll need to force air down its throat-er-throttle body)you can kiss durability goodbye. You can build 2 or 3 mild 5.0Ls for the price of an equivalent output 3.0L V6.

If your budget is a real concern, then just throw in another 3.0L and be done with it.
