Hey I have a 2wd 1985 ford ranger 2.3l efi gas engine, 5sp. I have come to this website for some serious help with it. I have replaced the egr valve, o2 sensor, and a couple other sensors. And yet at idal and about half throttle going down the road it starts to buck and jerk like the engine is going to jump out of the hood! I mean it isnt slight, it's like driving down the road and people look at you bad. Full throttle its great, and totally off the gas it's great. And if it helps give more of a hint when its cold going down the road it is fine and about a mile into it it starts acting up. It is beond my inexpierenced mind, please help me!
thanks, E

How old are the wires and plugs? Might be arcing off. If you can get it in a dark place or wait til night, look under the hood for errant sparks. Good luck

if it has a m.a.f sensor check the intake hose for cracks.

My Tempo did that too...on two different situations...one was the MAP sensor and the other was the fuel pump was cutting out sporadically due to the inertia switch going south...

Change the name of your Ranger to Mustang...people will think that is one wild ride.......lol

Most likely it is a fould plug. Pull them and replace them if they are old...if new...pull 'em and clean them or looked for a cracked plug. THave you ever run injector cleaner in the gas tank beofe. If not it won't hurt to try.

Hey I may try that thanks to all that have posted so far! My first day on a forum and it is going well, I really app the advice. thanks one and all
