Hi All...

Schlepped to the local Pick 'n Pull for their Columbus Day sale. Found a set of Explorer bucket seats. They bolted right onto the Ranger tracks and look good 'cept for a bit of greasy fingerprints on the passenger headrest.

Also grabbed the center console... had the tools and I was already dirty, so what the heck? As removed, it won't fit because the Explorer floor pan is different. I can make the upper half fit just fine tho' if I make some custom brackets.

Picked up the padded armrest part from another Explorer, but the more I looked at it, the less I wanted to use it. So... if anyone is desperate for one of these, let me know. The plastic is tan, the fabric is kinda dirty, but mechanically, I see no problems.

good work! glad it went together so smoothly for you. if no one wants the armrest on this forum, just post it up in the 'parts for sale' forum here and i'll bet you get rid of it soon enough! pics of your build?

Pics? I'll do that. When I finished today, I was tired, dirty and hungry.... mostly tired! <yawn>

Heya...

I have a couple of pictures of the "new" seats in my truck. A bit of background... this whole exercise got started (mostly) because Pokey didn't have a cup holder! Yeah... it's that important to me. :D
Also because the whole 60/40 seat thing seemed awfully lame. That and the flip down armrest flopped around like a half-dead fish!!!

Anyhow, this is from the passenger side. The seats are plain manual seats from an Explorer with a grey interior and are almost an exact match for what was in the truck to begin with. Most of the console was from the same Exp.
The console sits low, but that's fine with me. It's also a little too far forward, but that's because the middle seat belt is still wadded up behind it... more weekend twiddling! Originally it only had a single (broken) cup-holder, but visiting another Exp. netted me a dual cup (unbroken) replacement! Yay!

From the driver's side (Yeah James... that's your radio!). The look is pretty much stock and that's what I was going for.
Swapping the seats took about 3 hours and 2 cans of Arizona iced tea. I could do the job a lot faster now... now that I know what the H**L I'm doing!

Still a few things to do... Need to cover the hole where the padded armrest is supposed to go. Make a couple of brackets to secure the console to the floorpan. Then figure out why the seat-back lever on the driver's side quit working the day after I put the seats in! :annoyed:

that looks real good!!! hopefully not a broken adjuster on the driver's seat. nice looking interior. still has the stock appearance for sure, and i prefer that myself.

Thank you!

I'm sure I can overcome a reticent lever. After all, I have a decent sized hammer and a new roll of duct tape!
Also still have the old seat to tinker with.

I have the same seats and console in my '88.
It wasn't that straightforward to install, took a bit of American ingenuity
to get it all to fit right.

Good job.

Looks good. I'm about to do the same thing in mine.

Those are the seats I want...some day...

Good work...did you have to use different seat belts? Mine are stuck to the seat and I don't like the bolt that holds them...looks kinda flimsy...but they're still bolted to the floor...

looks nice, im goin to try to start lookin for buckets, leather, and power. with a center consle

Nice work, I have a 88 Ranger Supercab that I'm getting ready to rebuild/upgrade with parts from a 92 Explorer.

The Explorer has the Leather power seats, but they are trashed, I'm going to get them recovered in some sort of cloth, might do tweed.

But anyway good job

If you want the armrest fto work for that sytyle console the metal bracket for a standard cab ranger is unique to the standard cab ranger.

the Explorer/supercab Ranger/Bronco2's that used that console all use the exact same bracket.

I believe the bracket from aGen3/Gen4 Ranger with that style console will work for you...
