So i have a 87 2.9 bronco2 that it two wheel drive and i have a chance to buy a front have of a 4 wheel drive some one cut it in half for unknown reasons basicily from trasfer case front body frame and all for 100 cash so i was wondering if it is a easy swap and it is a 84 is there alot of differance in the frame also it is a carbed 2.9 in the cut frame thinking about swaping the motor to

switching to carbed is gonna require changing the fuel system but converting to 4x4 should be pretty easy, there is an article on it in the tech library

Thanks for the reply ill see if i can find it.. As far as the motor swap im still up in the air over it been also thinking of a 4.0 swap

im getting ready to do a 4.0 swap myself, its apparently the best bang for your buck

yeah same as i hear as well .. mine runs great other then a hard start first time i start it after that runs great for 280,000 miles on it just the first time starts had sometime even had to use starting fluid to get it fired up

So 4.0 swap is what ill look into what about a axle swap for the front?

On a BII the front axle from a 4x4 should just bolt right to the existing frame.

i was thinking more of is there anougher better choose the standard front axel??

Explorer front axle is beefier, still bolts up.

Honestly, best year and axle is a 95 to 97 from a 4.0 truck. Best brake setup out of the run.

Aside from that they are almost all the same.

ok kool what about trannys mine is a 4 with overdrive standard

Best transmission is apparently the M5OD. Supposedly there is a somewhat stronger version found in 4.0 SOHC powered vehicles. It seems no-one has proof of this though. BTW, M5OD out of a full-size is different.
