bronco II/ranger bed question

I'm about to dig into my fuel gage issue on my 1990 B2 and I really like the idea of the access panel. My question is does the ranger have the same corrogated bed as the rear deck of the B2? I'm calling junkyards to cut some patch pieces but all I can find are rangers. Just wondering if they are the same?

why not just cut the panel and hinge the part u cut off and reuse it?

I'd like to make sure it is sealed from water/fumes, etc and do a screw on patch like below

I reused it.. Welded tabs on the piece I cut off and screwed it back down. With the carpet and backing on it you should be good. As far as that goes if you wanna make something I'm sure any flat piece of steel would work. It's gonna be covered I'm sure..

I agree, flat piece of sheet metal you can get at any ace or do it best hardware. If your still worried about fumes/dirt/water, just cut out a foam or rubber gasket (like sill seal gasket) to go around the plate, and screw it down to the body.

I like the OP's idea. I think you could make the Ranger bed steel work, or you could cut out a section from another B2.

I went out and measured the corrugated box floor on my Ranger and the same on my BII, should work for you just fine. Just get a Ranger piece and then trim it to fit an inch or soon each side of your cut.

Thanks for checking the measurements, I just think it looks alot neater with a piece that matches all the contours, nice to know I can use either one!

Just as an idea what I did was marked the spot cut a tin patch set it on the spot your going to cover hammer it in to the shape that's there.Mark the outside of your patch then cut out the hole last with a margin to put in screws.
