Is that some sort of locking mechanism under the ball joint stud? and if so how do i get it off?
Also for a four inch suspension lift will i need a longer drive shaft?
all help is greatly appreciated. thanks

you shouldnt need a longer drive shaft on a 4" lift. ive got roughly 5"s of lift on mine in the rear and still have a stock shaft.

thanks for that i really didnt wanna have to do anything with the drive shaft

i need to get the front end redone and then take car of the motor but after that i think i want a 2 inch body and 4 inch suspension and cut the fenders and run 33's

thats really close to my set up. i have a 4" susp lift w/ f150 coils up front. 3" blocks and 2.5" add a leafs on the rear. cut feners 33's and im putting on a body lift this week. 1.5" body lift

i think im gonna search around and look for the best lift for my money but i cant make any progress on a lift till i can get these damn ball joints replaced lol

i may be wrong but isnt that your adjustable bushing for your camber/caster?

It is the camber/caster bushing, but it looks like the original non-adjuster. The tab on the lower piece is probably just and alignment tab to make sure it's put in in the right spot.

If you need to take it out get a chisel under it and pry. They usually come out so far and then go flying.

i dont need to do anything with it to replace the ball joints do i? i've tried everthing and still cant gettem loose

I just replaced my ball joints and those are factory castor/ camber cams.Once you get the old the ball joint out just soak it with WD-40 or your favoite spray over nite and start in the morning. Tap the sides with a hammer and good size punch and shock it.Once they break free your good to go.I bought adjustable cams to get a better dail in on the allinement.good luck !!

Once you get them out and the new ones in take it down to the local alignment shop and get it aligned. If you need new bushings they can put them in and adjust them for you.

I did the passenger upper and lower bj in april and just did the pass side this last sunday. What a bitch! I found out that the D28 has a locking pin that keeps the passenger half shaft secured in the carrier (I couldn't pull out the half shaft so I couldn't get the socket over the lower BJ nut! UHG!) anyways after I got the half shaft out I wound up using a pickling fork between the lower ball joint and the TTB frame and wailing on it til the knuckle finally let loose.

Good luck!

got the knuckles off yesterday and should have the new joints pressed in today. then i need new wheel bearings and everything is goin back on
