Hey guys,

I have stock a 87 bronco 2 5spd. The truck is making a weird clicking noise coming from the rear end but only upon acceleration and its pretty noticeable with the windows down. I think it might be the driveshaft?

What do you guys think? Anything helps.

o

yep, my vote goes to the driveshaft. if you have the cv joint type shaft... replace it w/ a regular u-joint one if you can. i had an explorer rear shaft shortened down for mine (also had to change flanges to make it match the 7.5 axle)

Well I planned on swapping out the front axle with the Dana35 from an explorer, should I just swap out the rear as well? Or is it easier to just shorten the explorer shaft and swap the flanges?

Does the explorer driveshaft line up with the bronco transfer case?
Is getting a driveshaft shortened expensive?

Thanks again.

if you plan on wheeling... do the 8.8 swap (its a lot stronger, if you plan on regearing... do the 8.8, don't spend money on the 7.5)

the driveshaft will work at the transfer case, yes

I payed $25 to get mine shortened and balanced (but I have friends)... call a machine shop or driveshaft shop and see what they will charge.

My vote is on the driveshaft as well. I had one do that. Could be other things but that's pretty common.

I got quoted about $40 to have one shortened here.
