I have a 87 bronco ii with a recently swapped 4.0 out of a 93 explorer the swap went well other than I'm not gettin spark... Does the fuel pump have to be working for it to spark? How does it even get the signal being distributor less what wire controls this and how do I fix it? My crankshaft position sensor is getting no voltage but the icm. And does anyone have a list of what wires go where on the 87 to 93 swap? Thanks. Bronco is my daily and its down so I need it asap

I have power to the computer, coil, and icm but not to crank sensor or interim switch does the interia switch prevent fire? I know it's messes with fuel

Spark works from the crank sensor.Did the motor run when you changed it? it might be sensor. Check for smashed wires, check plugs connections for being clean check that wire is hot when key is on.

1) But the ICM what?

2) What is an "interim switch"?

The engine will not run without the crank sensor. You will not have spark, or injector pulse without that signal because the computer won't know the engine is spinning.

The inertia switch is a totally unrelated system. Its only function is to shut down the fuel pump in an accident.

The fuel pump doesn't have to be working to enable spark, but if the fuel pump isn't priming it can be a sign that other things are also not getting power.

Now, the specific of the CKP wiring on the 4.0 escapes me ATM and I don't have my book handy, but not all crank sensors get power. Some of them produce an AC signal and don't need power fed from an external source.

It was the ICM it was working on the explorer... Swapped it over and it didn't. Bought a new one and she fires right up thanks for the input!
