Bronco II 3" body lift question

I have a 1989 Bronco II 2.9L auto trans and auto transfer case. I put a PA 3" body lift with no problems but now I'm going to do the 4.0L Explorer engine, transmission, transfer case, an axles swap. My question is the transmission from the donor is automatic but the transfer case is a manual. Does anyone know if I'm going to need some kind of extension for the transfer case shift linkage. I emailed Performance Accessories but have not received a reply. Just wondered if anyone has done the 3" body lift with a manual transfer case. I know they make extensions but I thought they were just for the transmission. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Lucky.lol Should be able just to fab something up. Its just an extension

You will probably need to build something. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a longer shifter that you can buy.

Yup, all true.

Can you weld?

Thanks for all the replies. I looked on PA's site and they say nothing about extending the manual transfer shifter just the transmission shifter. I guess they forgot about that. I do have a mig welder but can I weld ... that would have to be another thread. Let's just say I would trust myself welding a patch on a panel but something like spring perches or vital frame welding I do not trust myself and I have it done by someone that can weld. I'm sure I'll figure something out when the time comes I just wondered if anyone had any ideas. Thanks

I have a pa 3 on mine with the manual transfer case and I did'nt do anything to the shifter for it, :icon_thumby:

A shifter is no biggie...not load bearing (well, aside from the force you exert on it), and your beads can look crappy since it can be covered up. Sounds like youve got a plan...just do what works for you! Some applications may have success, others may not.

Did you put your body lift on backwards?

Oh gawd. For the record, I was just joking about the BL.

I put a 2" on mine and no shifter length problems.I did though have to elongate the slot going through the floor as it wouldn't shift into high 2wd.Make sure your front drive line turns free when in 2wd and hubs out.

Thanks, I should be starting to put things back together in the next week or two if anyone is interested in the 3" body lift vs the manual transfer case I will keep this thread up dated with pictures but if its of no concern to others I will not waste hard drive space. Thanks to all that replied
